After succumbing to spin in the 1st match, Australia now face India in the 2nd challenge of the tour. After all security concerns, the match will finally take place in Hyderabad.
Australian fast bowlers were tight in the previous match, but no one could make inroads except James Pattinson. He bowled with pace and purpose, and was the only bowler to trouble the Indians.
The only spinner Nathan Lyon also looked ordinary in front of the Indian batsmen. The Australian bowlers would be looking for a more solid performance in the 2nd test.
The Australian batsmen were good in the first innings, but their lack of technique against good spin bowling was highly exposed in the 2nd innings of the previous match.
Michael Clarke’s men will be looking to carve out a decent plan to play Indian spinners, as they look to bounce back in the next match.
Moises Henriques impressed in his first test match, and considering his way of batting, he is in for another good performance in Hyderabad.
As far as the selection is concerned, one fast bowler, likely Mitchell Starc, will make way for a second spinner, Xavier Doherty. Mitchell Johnson is also in line to replace Starc.
David Warner is injured and so he will make way for another batsman.
On the other hand, Indian team is looking a strong unit, with spin bowling their main weapon in this series.
Dhoni played a captain’s innings in the first test, and he is likely to succeed on a typical Indian pitch, expected in Hyderabad tomorrow.
Considering Australian batting against spin, India might be tempted to include third spinner in the 2nd game. But, it still remains a probability.
All in all, Australia are likely to bounce back as they always do, and India will be looking to win and stop Australia to win the series.
