After a totally one-sided test series in favor of the Proteas, now the focus will shift to the first ODI between New Zealand and South Africa, to be played tomorrow, at Boland Park, Paarl.

There is no hype to the buildup of this series, and justifiably so, due to the dismal display of cricketing skills, in the test series, from the New Zealand cricket team.

However, New Zealand are always a different unit in the limited over format, altogether. There were some good performances from New Zealand players in the T20 format, and they will try to carry that positive point into this low-profile ODI series.

Some key specialists, in the form of Kyle Mills and Rob Nicol, return to bolster the strength of the New Zealand bench, and they are likely to make it through to the playing XI, without any doubt. Mills will take on the new ball duty, while Rob will take over the opening job with Brendon McCullum.

The Kiwis will be looking for a spark of brilliance tomorrow, which can enable them to take first blood in the series. If this happens tomorrow, it will help in getting some interest of critics and fans into this dying series.

On the other side of the picture, the Proteas, will be relaxed, and will be looking for another professional performance, that has already become a habit of theirs.

There is not much in the selection of players. South Africa have shown the tendency to bring in some new faces for the home series. Tomorrow might well be the debut of another Protean against the Kiwis.

Moreover, three out of four fast bowlers will make into the playing XI as per the rotation policy of pacemen. It is very likely that AB De Villiers might be relaxed from keeping duty, and Quinton de Kock may take on the glove work.

There is not much information to say about the weather and the behavior of the pitch. And teams will be relying on these factors, to take decision after the toss.
