Bangladesh v West Indies 4th ODI live at Dhaka

A fighting effort by West Indies has ensured that their ODI series against Bangladesh remains alive.

A fighting effort by West Indies has ensured that their ODI series against Bangladesh remains alive. A similar effort will be needed when the teams meet in the fourth ODI on Friday in Dhaka. The hosts lead the five-match series 2-1.

West Indies were finally able to brush aside their woes to overcome the spirited Bangladesh side. After some struggle, the team was able to win by four wickets with three overs to spare.

Bangladesh paid the price for some poor shot selection and anxiety as anticipation was building around another series win.

The batsmen will need to show consistency as they slumped to 110 for five. Mushfiqur Rahim and Anamul Haque got starts but were not able to carry on. The team will be looking to draw some inspiration from Mohammad Mahmudullah who scored a well-constructed half-century.

With the ball, the hosts will continue with their plan of keeping things simple and relying on spin to dry out the runs.

West Indies would be grateful to Marlon Samuels for the century that led the tricky run chase. Darren Sammy hopes to keep the intensity high though would be expecting some of his big guns to start firing.

Chris Gayle has suffered three failures in a row while Keiron Pollard had his defence breached by Abdul Razzak. The bowlers did a better job and would be expected to exploit the somewhat helpful conditions in Dhaka. Sunil Narine picked up four key wickets to put a stronghold on the runs.

Bangladesh would be keen to avoid letting the series go into the final decider and would rather look to wrap up the series here only. Yet given their unpredictability, it will be a good opportunity for West Indies to strike early.

The match starts at 2.30pm local time in Dhaka.
