Pride and nothing else is what the teams will be playing for in the first of the two matches to be played on Monday in the Champions League.
Chennai Super Kings will face Yorkshire in the inconsequential fixture at Kingsmead in Durban.
Both teams have already been eliminated from the hunt for the semi-finals after a string of disappointing performances in the group matches.
Chennai still have some sort of a momentum in their favor after registering a win over Mumbai Indians. Yorkshire, as expected, failed to spring any surprises though they would still feel proud of making it through after the qualification stages. They have two wins and a no result so far.
Both the teams were in action on Saturday though ended up with contrasting results. Chennai too were in favor of a Yorkshire victory against Lions to keep their own hopes alive but that did not happen as a close game eventually ended in a five-wicket defeat for Yorks.
Captain Andrew Gale expressed disappointment at the result and has insisted that the team will look to play carefree cricket with no pressure or expectations off them. Throughout the tournament, their batsmen have disappointed and would like to exit on a high note.
Chennai at last scored their first win after edging out Mumbai by six runs in a match that went down to the wire. MS Dhoni’s batsmen finally came out blazing though 173-8 could have ended up much higher.
Faf du Plessis has been the find of the past month with impressive performances in the World T20 as well as the Champions League.
The captain remained tight-lipped about the team combination though inside reports suggest that the last match could see some shuffling to provide younger players with exposure.
The match will start at 1.30pm local time.
