Heavy rains ended the third ODI between Sri Lanka and Pakistan at Colombo without a result on Wednesday. This means that the series is still level at one game apiece and we could have a tied series as a result of only two more games to be played.
There were only 6.2 overs possible in the game, in which Pakistan lost two wickets and scored only 12 runs. Mohammad Hafeez’s bad form with the bat continued to haunt him as he was dismissed off only the fourth ball of the innings for a duck. To be fair to him, Lasith Malinga sent him away with a delivery that looked quite unplayable.
Nuwan Kulasekara had his first wicket in the sixth over with an inswinger. Azhar Ali failed to cover for the swing inside but would have considered himself unlucky because the ball looked like it had hit him outside the off stump.
The rains came down at 12/2 and never relented enough to resume play after that.
Earlier, Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bat first on a pitch that looked to have something for the quicker men. The visitors had dropped the debutant from the previous game, Rahat Ali and bolstered their batting by bringing in Asad Shafiq.
Sri Lanka had a change as well, as Sajeewa Weerakon came in for his debut in place of Rangana Herath. Weerakoon is a left arm spin bowler.
