IPL 2012 Live : Chennai Super Kings v Delhi Daredevils Preview
Article info

As action moves towards the final few group matches in the Indian Premier League, there will be two more matches played on Monday. Chennai Super Kings will come head to head with Kolkata Knight Riders at the Ededn Garden in the second match.

The hosts’ dream run of seven wins was halted by Mumbai Indians who beat them by 27 runs on Saturday. With 17 points on the board though, the Kolkata Knight Riders are comfortably placed to make it to the playoffs. For this reason, they decided to shuffle around and test their bench strength – a move that proved somewhat costly.

It remains to be seen how much experimentation they will do on Monday, but Yusuf Pathan’s knock would have been a welcome sight while Jacques Kallis’ anchor role also came to the fore yet again. The bowlers were slightly off color with Sunil Narine being economical but struggling to pick up wickets. Yet the team has no major panic signs after one loss.

The two-time defending champions, Chennai Super Kings, have 15 points so far but, having played one match extra, are on the verge of an elimination before playoffs. To avoid such an embarrassing fate, they would eagerly want to win their encounter against Knight Riders.

The morale would be improved given how they managed to upstage Delhi Daredevils, the season’s in-form side. Ben Hilfenhaus has been the star with the ball in the last two matches while the batsmen are gradually showing some signs of consistency too.

The Indian batsmen including Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja still need to prove a lot more than they have done so far. Albie Morkel’s presence in the middle-order provides options and Chennai should be looking to setting a high total on Monday.

The match will be played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The home side already has a win against Chennai in their away meeting earlier this season.
