With two matches to be played on Saturday, the Indian Premier League will see Chennai Super Kings come head to head with Delhi Daredevils in the return meeting this season to be played in Chennai.
The hosts are slightly more worried than their counterparts about a spot in the playoffs.
With 18 points from a dozen matches, Delhi Daredevils are comfortably sitting at the top of the table. With four matches to play, they are virtually assured of a spot in the playoffs. There also seems little to doubt about that given the imposing manner in which they marched to victory over Deccan Chargers on Thursday.
Set a tall total of 188 to chase, they stormed to victory with more than an over to spare as David Warner announced his arrival with a bang, racing to 109 off 54 balls studded with seven sixes. At the other end he received tremendous support from Naman Ojha who struck five sixes himself too. Virender Sehwag, the captain, has been the team’s leading run scorer this season as the Daredevils look a settled outfit.
Chennai Super Kings, the two-time defending champions, though have had a troublesome season as they have failed to find consistency. With 13 points so far, they need to win in order to breathe easily.
Their victory against Rajasthan Royals was a much needed one though it took its due share of difficulties to overcome. Ben Hilfenhaus will be the key for them after he roared back with a strong performance, picking up two wickets for eight runs from his allotted four overs.
It is the batsmen who have been a sign of worry as the Indian players including Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja have not looked at their best.
The match will be played in Chennai, starting at 8.00pm local time.
