As the action moves towards the fourth weekend, the fifth season of Indian Premier League will see Delhi Daredevils clash with Mumbai Indians in their second clash of the season.
The match will be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi, with both sides keen to carry forward their momentum after winning their respective previous matches.
Delhi Daredevils stamped their authority further with an imposing win against Pune Warriors in the last match. They chased down the 147-run target in 16 overs, powered by an aggressive knock by captain Virender Sehwag.
Sehwag scored 87 runs off just 48 balls including 10 fours and three sixes. With the likes of Kevin Pietersen, Ross Taylor and Morne Morkel in the side, the team boasts of a well-balanced outlook that gives them strength in each department.
Pietersen has already scored a century while Morkel is the leading wicket-taker this season. In addition, Irfan Pathan has been a more-than-useful contributor with both bat and ball.
Mumbai Indians registered their fourth win from seven matches on Wednesday, beating Kings XI Punjab in a close finish. They are still languishing in seventh place though. However, so closely are the teams placed in the table that a win for the Mumbai Indians will catapult them into the top four.
Against Kings XI Punjab, they managed to chase a total that seemed beyond them until the penultimate over. Rohit Sharma starred with the bat scoring a half-century before flashy cameos from Ambati Rayudu and Robin Peterson took them to victory with one ball to spare.
Captain Harbhajan Singh will be seeking improvement from the team as a whole though as most of them struggled. Kieron Pollard has been hugely misfiring so far but remains a match-winner on his day. Sachin Tendulkar is another big name struggling to do justice to the skills they possess.
The last time these two teams met, Mumbai Indians collapsed to 92 all out, a total that Delhi Daredevils overhauled with ease in emphatic style. Hopefully for the Mumbai Indians and their newest Member of Parliament, Sachin Tendulkar, there will be a change of fortunes when they take on the Daredevils.
