With further two matches scheduled to be played on Wednesday, the second match will see two of the big powerhouses in action – Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Both the teams are hoping to move up the ladder on the points in the match to be played in Bangalore.
In their earlier meeting, Chennai Super Kings came out on top off the last ball in one of the most thrilling finishes of the IPL this season. The two teams have scored four wins from seven matches each.
Royal Challengers Bangalore have been in a rich vein of form with three consecutive wins. In their last match, against Rajashtan Royals, they scored an imposing win by 46 runs. Tillakaratne Dilshan and AB de Villiers steered the team to a grand total of 189 before KP Apanna’s four-wicket haul restricted the opposition to 143.
Muttiah Muralitharan has not been picked off late but could be brought in against his former franchise, against whom he also picked up three wickets in the previous meeting.
The momentum has also been with Chennai Super Kings who have recovered well to score two wins. They too won against Rajasthan Royals. The team seems to be drawing enough inspiration in itself to clinch last-ball finishes.
Faf du Plessis has been the cornerstone of their batting lately with half-centuries. He did well in the two sides’ earlier meeting in Chennai. Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo lend further big names that can make an impact single-handedly with the bat.
With the ball, Nuwan Kulasekara has been doing well, finishing with economical figures in the last match. Doug Bollinger also picked up key wickets against Bangalore earlier and could come in good while spinning options are multiple with Shadab Jakati and Ravi Ashwin in the squad.
The match will be played in Bangalore and a good turnout is expected for the evening match.
