Royal Challengers Bangalore will begin their IPL 5 campaign on Saturday with a game against Delhi Daredevils at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore.
RCB were the finalists in the fourth edition of the Indian Premier League and are strong favourites to make it to the knock-out round this year as well. They will have a change in leadership this season as former captain Rahul Dravid has made his way to the Rajasthan Royals. So Virat Kohli will step up to take the responsibility.
Bangalore’s chances of an easy win will heavily depend on opener Chris Gayle’s form. The West Indies player mesmerized the Indian crowd last year with his big shots in almost every match, after being signed as an injury replacement.
Zaheer Khan will return to the field after a brief period on the sidelines since he picked an injury while playing for India. The Challengers’ strength in bowling will heavily rely on Zaheer’s display in front of his home crowd.
Delhi Daredevils have played one game in this season already, which resulted in a win against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday. The North Indian side, led by India’s explosive opening batsman Virender Sehwag, were clinical in their bowling performance against Kolkata.
The bowling attack was led by Morne Morkel for Delhi, who got good support from the economical bowling of Umesh Yadav. While chasing a very low target, Irfan Pathan surprised everyone with his important knock which included a few good boundaries.
After getting the perfect start in the tournament, the Daredevils will try to continue their good run with a view to reach the finals of the tournament. But skipper Virender Sehwag will have to put in a good batting performance if Delhi are to stop the likes of Zaheer Khan along with other RCB bowlers and put up a big score.
