The third ODI between West Indies and India will be played at a new venue, North Sound in Antigua, and will see the tourists go into the game with a 2-0 lead. A win here will clinch them the series which is why this is a vital game for the West Indies. Not selected again>

One needs to question some of the tactics that the selectors and the West Indies Cricket Board have used in the past – leading up to this game. So much so, that one cannot be sure whether they are serious about winning the series, or even a game. They dropped Chris Gayle from the squad for the first two games and even after the side had lost the first two, they have refused to pick him up due to a spat with the opening bat.

Not that the West Indian coach, Otis Gibson is complaining too much given that he has never wanted Gayle to be a part either. This will mean that the side needs to quickly start showing some improvement or face another prospect of a 5-0 whitewash.

To top the exile of Gayle, the selectors have also allowed Dwayne Bravo a break from the series while replacing Ravi Rampaul with Kemar Roach. It isn’t clear why Rampaul hasn’t been selected despite being a decent bet with the ball in his hand so far. Danza Hyatt also comes into the squad, while it will be interesting to see the playing eleven the side goes into the game with.

For the Indians, this has been a testing series so far and they will be happy to have still won both the games comfortably. In the first game, the chase was only 215, but a middle-order collapse took the wind off their sails before the resurrection by Rohit Sharma saw them win comfortably. The second ODI had them chase down a tricky total in a rain-affected encounter which meant that they were leading 2-0.

Virat Kohli’s return to form has clearly been one to watch out for given the kind of talent that he possesses. Kohli took a couple of game to come to grips with the slow pitch but now that he had done so, the West Indian bowlers will need to beware of where they bowl to him on a better-paced Antigua pitch.

India should go into the game with the same eleven unless the selectors want to rotate things around – but that will not make too much sense at this stage in the series.
