Article info

The Match: The Mumbai Indians will host the Pune Warriors India in the 21st game of the Indian Premier League this season at the Wankhede Stadium. Both teams have the same number of points going into the game and will look to ensure that they can get to the top of the table by winning this one.

How the two teams match up: Mumbai Indians have won two of their three games so far. They had begun with easy wins over the Delhi Daredevils and the Royal Challengers Bangalore before the Kochi Tuskers defeated them, chasing down more than 180. The Warrior have had a similar start. They won their first two games before the they took on the Delhi Daredevils and were beaten. Needs his team to bowl better>

Ground Conditions: There has been one game played at the Wankhede Stadium in this tournament and it was between Mumbai and the Kochi side. Kochi chased down 181 to win the game on a ground where the dew was an issue and what is something that the sides will be relieved to hear is that the game will be played at 4 pm. Will he play this one?>

The Teams: Mumbai Indians will go into the game with the same playing eleven, unless there are some last minute injuries. However, they need to look at the line-up and not make it as rigid as they have been in the past. This means that if the start has been very good or if the side needs some quick runs, the likes of Kieron Pollard and Andrew Symonds need to be unleashed from their shackles.

The bowling relies on Lasith Malinga, but it is on the flat tracks like the one at Wankhede that players like Munaf Patel and Harbhajan Singh usually struggle to get going.

On the other hand, the Pune Warriors will need to look at the bowling closely. While the pair of Alfonso Thomas and Srikanth Wagh had had a good start to the tournament, they have lost out on a bit of verve, which should allow someone like Ashish Nehra (if fit) or James Faulkner, Mitchell Marsh or Nathan McCullum to get into the side.

The batting looks confident for now but Graeme Smith needs to start scoring and quickly at that.

Players to look out for: The Mumbai Indians will need Munaf Patel to bowl as well as he is doing in the tournament, giving support to Malinga. The Warriors need to get going with their bowling and will hope that Wayne Parnell can make the ball talk.

Prediction: Not much to choose from between the two sides.
