The Match: In what will be the 12th game of this edition of the Indian Premier League, the Rajasthan Royals will play the Kolkata Knight Riders at home. The game will be played at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur which had earlier hosted the game between the Royals and the Delhi Daredevils.
How the two teams match up: It is interesting that the two teams are playing this game because they will follow this up with another game at the Eden Gardens – the first two sides to play both, their home and away games in the tournament. Rajasthan have won both their opening encounters, having beaten the Deccan Chargers away and the Daredevils at home.
Kolkata go into the game with a lot of confidence as well, having overpowered the Deccan Chargers after losing to the Chennai Super Kings rather narrowly >
Ground Conditions:
In the previous game that was played here, the Daredevils had lost early wickets before recovering well to post a competitive score. Rajasthan had then managed to chase it down. In his latest column, Rajasthan Royals batsman Ross Taylor has spoken about how the pitch looked good for a 150-155 score in the game. One senses that this should be chased as well >
The Teams: The Royals have shown a penchant to change things around but this time, the change could just be forced on to them. The reason for this is that they will welcome back the in-form, Australian all-rounder Shane Watson, who was earlier in Bangladesh playing a series for the national side.
If Watson comes back, there will be a need for the Rajasthan skipper Warne to drop one of their top notch players, Taylor, Tait or Botha, in order to accommodate him and by the looks of things, Tait could be the one out.
On the other hand, the Kolkata Knight Riders will be bolstered by the return of Brett Lee and Brad Haddin from the same series. While it is difficult to see the Kolkata Knight Riders change their opening combination to accommodate Haddin, given that they have added a couple of 50s together, Lee should be a shoo-in. He could replace Jaiev Unadkat in the side.
Players to look out for: Gautam Gambhir has had his set of skirmishes with Warne in the past and will look to ensure that he can get a big one here. On the other hand, Rajasthan will look to Sidharth Trivedi to find his bowling touch from the first game again.
Prediction: Difficult to call this one, however, at home, Rajasthan could be the team to beat.
