South Africa will look to continue their winning form when they take on the Netherlands at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Thursday, March 3. >
South Africa were imperious in their first game against the West Indies and beat them comfortably. The Netherlands, however, have lost both their games so far, despite a promising start in their first game against England.
The game should be an exciting one despite the gulf in class. The pitch could play an important role. This is probably the only pitch in this World Cup that would assist the seamers. The game is a day game and some early morning dew could help the pace bowlers to get some lateral movement.
However, this will be a one paced track and should assist batting as well.
It will be interesting to see if South Africa will go for Lonwabo Tsotsobe in this game. He has been their most threatening bowler, in terms of wickets, in the buildup to this tournament.
However, a three man spin attack was favored in the first game against the West Indies, which also proved to be very successful. It is hard to see why they would want to change that combination but the wicket and the conditions could be decisive in the selection before the game.
The Netherlands will have a very tough job on their hands. South Africa’s bowling attack is the most balanced and threatening in this tournament. Imran Tahir already looks to be a key member of that attack and was fantastic against the West Indies.
He also seems to possess a wide repertoire and should be one to watch in this game and the rest of the tournament.
Ryan ten Doeschate and Tom Cooper will be the key men in batting for the Dutch. However, they are more likely to wage a lone battle this time as well as South Africa are too good for their team.
