What: It is the seventh and the final ODI of the series between Australia and England.
When:
The game will be played on Sunday, February 6, 2011.>
Where: The match will be played at the WACA in Perth in Australia.
Background:
Australia have long won the series, taking a 5-1 lead. In fact, they had won the seven-game series when they won the fifth match before chasing down a total of 334 in the sixth to go 5-1 up. Michael Clarke’s captaincy has come for a lot of praise and that seems to have helped his batting as well as he has batted rather well so far in the last couple of games. >
On the other hand, it has been a struggle for England ever since they won the Ashes. The batting had let them down on most occasions, but in the previous game, the lack of bowling experience was an obvious issue to go with James Anderson’s frivolous ways. England will need a consolation win going into the World Cup which comes at the back of a rather long and winding season.
Teams: England do not have too many players left in the reserves. One by one, they have lost far too many players to injuries and that has meant that they had to get in Liam Plunkett as a cover and one gets the sense that he may play in this game. To go with the list of injuries for the bowlers, Paul Collingwood suffered from an injury to the back and is off to England. There isn’t any batsman remaining in the side to replace him and Luke Wright will be called up.
Australia have rested Michael Clarke and Cameron White leads the side. What is interesting is that the game may see Jason Krejza feature as well, making it a comeback match for him after the Aussies gave up on Michael Beer, and injuries to Nathan Hauritz, Xavier Doherty and Steven Smith made way for him.
Players to look out for: It will be White, whose batting has seen a bit of a lull at the moment. With Clarke having found his touch, it will now be up to White to get going with the bat. England will depend on their captain Andrew Strauss to get some runs for himself and his side.
