The tenth game of the Champions League T20 will be played between the Mumbai Indians and Guyana at the Kingsmead in Durban. Mumbai Indians go into the game with two successive losses in two games, whereas Guyana had lost their previous match as well. >
The Mumbai Indians would know that they are almost out of the tournament. Unless they are able to win both the remaining games, including this one, and then get some other results in their favour, it is highly unlikely that they will qualify for the semi-finals. >
And they have no-one but themselves to blame. The fielding has been appalling for the Mumbai Indians so far, and if there is a captain leading the side, he has been conspicuous by the lack of decisions. Strategy has gone for a toss, and one gets the sense, so is the morale.
The batsmen did their job in both the games one feels. It was only the bowlers who failed to get a move on, and the fielders, who have dropped catches at every opportune time.
Guyana did not have a great first game either; it was almost like a baptism of fire. The batsmen were found woefully wanting, and a target of 103 was easily chased by the Bangalore side. Technically, the Guyana side is still in the competition, but one must say that the way they played in that first game, it looks like they will need to tighten up drastically to hold a semblance of a chance of getting to the knock-out stages.
Despite all that has transpired before, Mumbai Indians will be favourites to win the game against Guyana at Kingsmead. All in all, it is going to be a match to decide the winner of the wooden spoon.
