The second match of the Champions League T20 will see the Warriors take on the Wayamba side at the Port Elizabeth ground. This is a group A game and will have the home team, Warriors, play in the match, which means that the grounds should be buzzing with activity on a weekend.
The Warriors are being led by Davey Jacobs while the Wayamba team will see the captaincy belong to Jehan Mubarak. However, the main stars of the show could just the players apart from the captain.>
For the Lankan side, Mahela Jayawardene was the man instrumental in seeing his side through to the Champions League T20. He played a masterful innings in the final of the domestic T20 to win the tournament, and given his international experience, he will be the one man that the side will look up to. >
Of course, there are others as well in the batting for the Wayamba side, but it is their bowling which is the one to watch out for. The pace bowling department consists of Chanaka Welegadara and Farveez Maharoof, whereas the spinners have the pair of Ajantha Mendis and Rangana Herath weave a threat.
Mendis’ bowling will be the one to watch out for as he will look to bamboozle the inexperienced Warriors side. The battle between the two will be something that could decide the course of the match.
The advantage that the Warriors have is that not only will this be their home track, but that will also mean that the quicker bowlers will have a say in the match. Especially against a Sri Lankan side, which, by nature do not perform too well on the South African tracks.
With a bowling line-up consisting of the likes of Johan Botha, Nicky Boje, Makhaya Ntini and Juan Theron, it will be an embarrassment of riches for the Warriors. The question that remains is whether they will be able to bat well enough to support their bowlers in the match.
