The New Zealand Cricket chief Justin Vaughan has said that it has no intentions of playing in Pakistan, as was reported in the media earlier. One of PCB’s members had spoken to the media, and said that the NZC had expressed its interest in playing in Pakistan to raise funds for the flood victims. >
However, NZC has clarified that PCB had misinterpreted their letter.
Vaughan said that while the NZC did send a letter to the PCB expressing solidarity, there was no mention of New Zealand playing in Pakistan. What was expressed in the letter was that cricket had to play a part in the resurrection of the country which was ravaged by the floods and left millions homeless.
Even the New Zealand Players Association chief Heath Mills agreed with Vaughan and said that it was not yet safe to play in Pakistan. He said that security of the players continued to remain a concern, and in times like these where the security forces will be helping the flood victims, it could be a bigger concern.
Pakistan will tour New Zealand at the end of the year, and the series will see three T20Is, two Test matches and six ODIs.
