Younis backs Afridi as Test Captain

Pakistan’s cricket coach Waqar Younis said that he is confident that the team would do well under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi.

Pakistan’s cricket coach Waqar Younis said that he is confident that the team would do well under the captaincy of Shahid Afridi. Afridi had also led the team in the recent World T-20 cup. Further, he said that he would be leading the side in the upcoming England Test series and also for the Asia Cup. Moreover, he added that he had not played a single test since 2006. While addressing the media Waqar was of the view that Shahid Afridi had successively led the team well in the T20 cricket and he was positive communicating with the players. Waqar also thinks that he will produce similar results in one-day and Test matches,”

Subsequently, Waqar said that he was concerned more about Shoaib Akhtar’s fitness, the pace bowler who have been included in the team for the upcoming tournaments.

He also appreciated the selectors move to include the youngsters in the team for the Asia Cup and England series. The former Test captain also said that Pakistan cricket is in an upgrading process and he thinks that the inclusion of fresh blood is a good move learning a lot of skills in England,” Waqar said that the new rotation policy will help as the team is going to play a lot of cricket in the coming seasons. He further added that he would have liked Yousuf’s presence in the side for upcoming test series; however the player had recently taken retirement.
