After only a couple of weeks of some interesting and quality cricket, the Aussies will play England in the final of the ICC World T20 at Bridgetown in Barbados. The two sides entered the finals in contrasting styles, but one can be rest assured that the best two sides will be playing in the final of the tournament. Will need to come good at the top>

Australia have won all the games that they have played in the tournament, and apart from their semi-final win over Pakistan, the rest of them have all been one-sided. The semi-final could have gone Pakistan’s way, but the manner in which Michael Hussey played in the end, it was only fair that Australia came out deserving winners. Will love the Barbados pitch>

As compared to that, England’s campaign was marred by rains to begin with as they became only the first side to enter the second round of the competition without a win. However, once the clouds lifted, the English side displayed a side of theirs which had hardly been seen earlier and won 4 successive games to get to the final.

The final will be played at Barbados, and that, to me, is the biggest advantage that the Aussies will have. Not only will that ensure that their fast bowlers will get a chance to come to the party again, but it will also mean that the ball will come on to the bat and make it easier for the likes of Shane Watson and Dave Warner at the start of the innings.

England’s batting will depend on the flashy, but consistent, Kevin Pietersen, and Eoin Morgan, both of whom have been in the form of their lives. What has not really gone in the favour of England so far is the batting at the top of the order; Lumb and Kieswetter have been moderate in their batting prowess and that has not allowed England to get away to the good starts.

What would be interesting to watch is how would the English batsmen cope up with the Aussie pace bowlers, and the battle between the Australian batters and the English spinning duo of Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy.

All in all, it is a rarity, but the final will be a curtain raiser to the Ashes battle that begins in November this year between the same two sides.

Australia go into the match as favourites, but that is a given. 888Sport offers 8/13 for their win, whereas Bet Fred offers 5/4 if England surprise the opposition. My gut feel is that Australia should win it easy after a memorable game in the semi-finals.
