The BCCI has made an announcement in regards to the appointment of Bharat Patel, a man from the corporate world in India, to be a part of the Governing Council in the role of an advisor. He will be advising the chairman to the chairman of the Governing Council, i.e. Chirayu Amin.
The Governing Council will now need to approve of this appointment in the month of June, post which Patel will probably assume a more meaningful role. Patel was the chairman of the foreign based MNC, Procter & Gamble earlier. The BCCI also noted that Patel was a part of the IPL in 2008 in a similar capacity to Lalit Modi.
Sundar Raman is the current COO of the IPL, and it remains to be seen whether he continues in that same capacity.
The work within the Governing Council has been divided into Modi-related work, which is handled by Chirayu Amin while the troika of Sunil Gavaskar, MAK Paaudi and Ravi Shastri are looking into the cricket-related work within the Governing Council.
Patel was the chairman of P&G till March 2009 and currently is the head of the Indian Society of Advertisers and is also on the brand protection committee of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, a top lobby group that Amin headed a few years ago.
