The first game of the penultimate day of the Super Eight stage of the ICC World T20 will see the Pakistanis take on South Africa. It is a must-win game for Pakistan whereas, South Africa could have an outside chance of going through even if they lose this game. The game will be played at St. Lucia.

South Africa will obviously need to overcome their inconsistent performances in the tournament to put it across Pakistan, but they will be disadvantaged by the fact that the game will be played on a pitch that does not support too much pace. That will also mean that their pace attack, comprising of Dale Steyn, Charl Langeveldt, Morne Morkel and Jacques Kallis, will have an issue or two continuing with the strategy that most pace bowlers have been using; the use of short ball. Will he get back to form?>

As compared to that, Pakistan will prefer these conditions where the likes of Shahid Afridi, Saeed Ajmal and now, left-arm spinner, Abdur Rahman, will be able to extract some spin. Mohammad Asif will continue to remain out, but the question that many are asking is whether Misbah-ul-Haq deserves a position in the eleven and whether Shahid Afridi deserves to bat so high up the order. Will get a promotion?>

Personally, I get the sense that this could just be the game in which the side could experiment with having Abdul Razzaq up the order, even at around the 11th over or so, in order to get ample time to set himself up for the slog.

South Africa will go into the game as favourites with Boylesports offering 8/13 for their win as compared to 8/5 that Sporting Bet offers for a Pakistani win. Given the form, Pakistan are definitely not the team too many would want to bet on, but then again, the fact is that on a given day in T20 cricket, that is something you cannot bet against.
