The captain of Pakistani side for the ICC World Twenty20, Shahid Afrid has said that he thinks that it was a ‘blessing in disguise’ that none of the Pakistani players were picked for the IPL. >
Talking to the PTI, Afridi said that he was not disappointed in the least to have not played in the IPL, as it had given the entire team a chance to practice together for the World T20. The tournament will be played in West Indies from the 30th of April. Pakistan is grouped with Australia and Bangladesh.
“Given the problems that have besieged Pakistan cricket in recent months it is good that we have got time to work together as a team in the World Cup training camp, it has allowed us to settle down and focus on the World Twenty20,” Afridi said.
The Pakistani cricketers are currently involved in a camp at Lahore, in which they are practicing fielding and trying to up their fitness as well.
