The Mumbai Indians will play the Kings XI Punjab in the 27th game of the IPL today. The Mumbai Indians will go into this game played at the Brabourne Stadium after having won five matches out of the six that they have played, whereas Punjab has won only one! >
Kings XI Punjab has been easily going through some of the worst times. They have had internal squabbles, controversies with the owners and Bhagat Singh’s grandson, rumours of owners selling their stake off and the captain Kumar Sangakkara is now banned due to persistence in slow over-rates.>
Punjab’s bowling, despite the return of Brett Lee, did not look too incisive, and their batting has struggled in the wake of their three main guys; Sangakkara, Yuvraj Singh and Mahela Jayawardene not being amongst the runs.
There are no such worries for Mumbai, who look to have surpassed their own expectations. Of course, a lot has to do with the batting of the one man, Sachin Tendulkar. However, the rest of them have chipped in as well, and in the end, the side has gelled well.
The slight worry for the side, though, would be that despite going in with five main bowlers, the side has been conceding too many runs. If they could get going and bowl the right channels to the batsmen then the target could be easily achieved for the Mumbai Indians. Another couple of wins and they should be through to the semi finals.
Mumbai go into the match as favourites with Stan James offering 4/7 for their win as compared to a rather drifting 13/8 (Bet365) for Punjab to make it their second triumph.
