South African Arthur might coach Australia

Cricket Australia (CA) might book Mickey Arthur, the former South African player, as the national coach for the team.

Cricket Australia (CA) might book Mickey Arthur, the former South African player, as the national coach for the team. CA is looking out for probable options to replace their current head coach, Tim Nielsen and Arthur is likely to be finalized, if things work out well.

Arthur is also considered as a coach for the Western Australia team as a replacement for Tom Moody. The former South African coach resigned from his post in January, 2010 and is into discussions with the Western Australian management for the position as a head coach. If the discussions end on a satisfactory note for both sides, Arthur could be starting on his new job as soon as next month. When contacted, Arthur agreed that the talks were ongoing but he neither confirmed nor denied whether he would be taking up the job.

Other runners for the job post included former Indian coach, John Wright as well as a fellow Australian, Geoff Marsh. However Arthur outruns them all on account of having led the South Africans a Test victory in England as well as to their first Test victory in Australia. Arthur led the South Africans to the top-most position in the overall Test rankings in the world and helped them reach the semi-finals for the 2007 Cricket World Cup.
