The ninth game of the IPL will see the Delhi Daredevils look to continue their winning streak against the Mumbai Indians at the Feroz Shah Kotla. >
The pitch at the Kotla has been such that the big hitters may be eradicated from the game and one may see guys of the nature of a Rahul Dravid doing all the scoring here. However, the news from the Kotla is that the curator has tried his best to change the nature of the track to an out-an-out batting track and hence, one can expect the sides to enjoy batting on the surface. >
The Delhi Daredevils are the form-side of the tournament in the early part of this tournament. They have won both their games so far quite easily and much has to do with the fact that at least one out of the two openers have performed to the best of their abilities. In fact, with Tillakaratne Dilshan having got two ducks so far, it will be interesting to see how he goes about his business in this game, and whether the Mumbai Indians have the ammunition to prevent the top three from scoring.
In the previous game, the Mumbai side had gone ahead with Ryan McLaren to open the bowling, but one gets the sense that it would be worthwhile to allow one or two overs from Lasith Malinga upfront to contain the ravishing Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir.
Mumbai will also be bolstered by the presence of their two West Indians, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo, both of whom were not available for their first game. With both now in town, it will be interesting to see the kind of line-up that the side goes in with. In the previous game, they had only three foreign players featured, and so one of these two West Indians will be the fourth, whereas McLaren could be given the boot to get in the other West Indian.
Delhi were the pre-tournament favourites, and go into the game at 8/11 (Stan James) to win the game. Mumbai is not the favourite to win the game, but if they bat first and pile on the runs, they may look better than 6/5 that is offered for their win by Extra Bet.
