History

The first country to introduce a domestic one day limited overs event was England in 1963 with its Gillette Cup. The next country to lead was Australia when this competition was established in the year 1969-70. Since then, this kind of match is held every summer under many names and formats. This is also a List A cricket competition. The numbers of teams that can participate in this match are total six teams. The most successful team till date has been West Australian winning almost 11 titles. The present champion team is the Tasmania team.

The New Zealand team participated in the Ford Ranger One Day Cup from 1969-70 until 1974-75. Cornets participated in this tournament from 1997-98 until 1999-2000.

There are various team players who have the most high leading run scores and wicket takers than the opponent team mates. For instance, Jimmy Maher of Queensland Bulls scored 4589 runs at 44.99. New South Wales Blues team player, Stuart MacGill scored the highest as a wicket taker with 124 wickets at 22.36.

Television coverage

In 2006-07, the Ford Ranger One Day Cup was broadcasted on Fox Sports Channel. Twenty Five out of the Thirty One games were televised which included the final match. Prior to Fox Sports Broadcasting of the domestic cricket competition, Nine Channel was the host broadcaster. Star Cricket Channel shows the telecast in India with the aid of Fox Sports Channel.

This was the 38th season of the domestic One Day Cricket competition which was played in Australia. There were thirty group matches and a final match. In the final, the Queensland Bulls defeated the Victorian Bushrangers team at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The 2007-08 Ford Ranger One Day Cup season

The 2007-08 Ford Ranger One Day Cup which was the 39th season included List A domestic cricket in Australia. With six teams representing six states in Australia, the competition began in 2007. The final match was played in 2008 at Bellerive Oval with a dramatic interruption due to rain. The finals included Tasmania and Victoria team, where the former won the match by 1 wicket with 5 balls remaining.

The 2009-10 Ford Ranger One Day Cup season was the 40th season of List A domestic cricket scene in Australia. History got repeated again with Tasmania team winning the finals against the Victoria team by 110 runs.
