The Frank Worrell Trophy The Frank Worrell Trophy> is actually awarded for the winner of the Australia-West Indies test match series who play for this trophy in the cricket field. This trophy was instituted in the year 1961 in Brisbane by the Australian cricket board to commemorate the tied test matches between both the teams during a 1960-61 series.

The Administrator of this trophy is the International Cricket Council. The first tournament played was in the year 1960-61 with two numbers of teams always competing with each other. The current champion is the Australia team with most of the successful victories by this team itself. Brian Lara took most of the runs with 2,815 whilst Courtney Walsh took almost 315 wickets.

The Frank Worrell trophy is in fact named after the former West Indies captain, Sir Frank Worrell and was first awarded at the end of the 1960-61 series. Along with Sir Donald Bradman, the cricket Board of Control commissioned former Test cricketer and also a professional jeweler, Ernie McCormick to create an eternal trophy. This trophy would be presented to the winning captain of each of the test series match played between the West Indies and the Australian team.

The design of the beautiful trophy was incorporated by using a ball in the Tied Test. The Frank Worrell Trophy like the Ashes is known to be one of the most respected trophies in the world of cricket.

Till date, there have been total 93 tests played with Australia winning 41 of them and West Indies winning 30 of them. Drawn test matches were 22. With right to series, total 21 matches have been played with Australia winning 11 of them and West Indies with 8. Total drawn series were 2.
