West Indies play Zimbabwe in the first game of the tour at Port-of-Spain, when the two teams meet in the one-off T20I. >
The Zimbabweans will be led by Prosper Utseya, who has been the leader of the pack for more than an year now. There are some other guys who have been in a reasonably good form over the last few months, but that has been against the likes of Kenya and Bangladesh. Whether a Hamilton Masakadza or a Charles Coventry would be able to exhibit the same form against West Indies remains to be seen. >
In the tour game, the Zimbabweans beat the third string West Indian side, but the game was very close. Tatenda Taibu, who has finally made a return to the squad slammed a century and will be the man to look out for as the tourists try their best to reclaim some of their lost pride.
West Indies will be led by Denesh Ramdin, as Chris Gayle is afforded some much-needed rest after a rather arduous tour of Australia. The good news though, for the side, is that Shivnaraine Chanderpaul makes a return back to the team, whereas young Adrian Barath will play in the T20 side, after having missed out in the Australia ODIs and T20Is.
The hosts will be obvious favourites in the game against a side which only recently lost to Bangladesh in an ODI series 1-4. Of course, Bangladesh had also beaten West Indies, but it must be said in West Indies’ defence that this was a third string Caribbean side they had won against. West Indies go into the game at 1/4 (888Sports) as compared to Zimbabwe’s 4/1 for a win (Totesport)
