Betting Preview of Aus v WI - 1st T20I at Hobart

Australia will take on the West Indies in the first of the two T20Is to be played at Hobart.

Australia will take on the West Indies in the first of the two T20Is to be played at Hobart. With the ODI series lost 0-4, the visitors will be looking to make the T20Is count and win at least one of the two games to hold their heads high before taking the flight back home. Will lead the side>

Of course, the Aussies will remember that the last time the two sides had clashed in a T20I game, the West Indian side had made a mincemeat of them. This was in the ICC World T20 and Australia had crashed out of the tournament in the very first round. Needs to make it count up the order>

This time around, a lot has changed. For one, the Aussies look like a totally different unit, with the captaincy having changed hands. Ricky Ponting had retired from this form of the game and has been replaced by Michael Clarke, whereas Cameron White is now the vice-captain. It must be said that White is one of the best T20 players to have played this game, and possesses some good skills as the leader of his domestic side in the KFC Big Bash tournament.

As compared to the Aussies, the West Indian side are barely managing to come to grips with the pitch. The batsmen have almost not got a single start at the top of the innings, and one can be rest assured that Chris Gayle will look to try out something new in this game. The likes of Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Smith have played in Australia during the Big Bash and would be a handful in this shortened format.

The only question is whether Gayle can make a better use of them than he did during the ODIs.

Despite the Australia’s track record, they will go into the match as supreme favourites, 2/5 at Ladrbokes to make it 1-0 as compared to 12/5 (Bet365) for the West Indies to surprise the opposition. My money cannot be on any other team but the one which has yet to lose this summer!
