The third ODI between Australia and West Indies will be played on Friday at the Sydney Cricket Ground. With the Aussies leading in the series 2-0, a win here would shut the West Indies out of the series; and moreso, shut the West Indian captain’s mouth, who had earlier proclaimed that his side could win 4-1. >
Unfortunately for the captain, his words have found no player to assist in backing him. This has led to two convincing losses for the visitors, and given the sheer margin of the same, it looks like a difficult proposition for the West Indian side.>
They need a much better start than they have had in both the games, and one expect a couple of changes at the top of the order. One cannot expect to win games from Australia with starts like 16/4 and 12/3 that they have had in the series so far. Runako Morton may go down, or out of the side altogether, whereas someone like a Dwayne Smith or a Kieron Pollard needs a promotion up the order.
Australia, on the other hand, have had the luxury of resting two of their players; Shane Watson and Brad Haddin. Adam Voges gets another chance to break into the playing eleven of the team, whereas Tim Paine will not only keep wickets, but will also open the innings for his side.
The bowling juggernaut continues to roll on, but the Aussies will beware of a Gayle-backlash and it will be interesting to see how they keep their wits about themselves in that case.
Despite it looking increasingly difficult that the Aussies will lose a game to West Indies, I shall still not discount the possibility. In fact, with Expekt.com offering 4.33 for them to make it 1-2, I may end up putting my money on them, as compared to Australia who are at 0.29 (Coral)
