The third and the final Test between Australia and Pakistan will be played at Tasmania in Hobart tomorrow. Australia leads the series 2-0 and will to make a clean sweep, whereas Pakistan will look to put their off-field issues behind them and salvage some pride from the game. >
Not that the venue itself offers the tourists much hope. Ever since the first Test was played here in 1989, Australia has yet to lose a game, and that burden of history makes it doubly difficult for the visitors. Add to that the problems that they had off the field, when Kamran Akmal had twice declared that he was going to play in the game, whereas the cricket board back home had flown Sarfraz Ahmed and sent instructions that will replace Akmal, and one does know that there are some glaring issues within the Pakistani camp.>
The best news for them, though, is the declaring fit of Mohammad Aamer after he had missed out on the second Test. His presence, along with the change in the playing eleven for Pakistan, with the inclusion of Shoaib Malik and Khurram Manzoor should assist the Pakistanis in the game.
For Australia, there is a piece of good news too. Simon Katich has been declared fit and hence will bat along with Shane Watson at the top. Despite Ricky Ponting’s issues with his elbow and hence the pain experienced while playing the pull shot, the Aussies will continue batting him at the number three.
Australia will go into the game as favourites, but one wonders whether the odds of 1.73 (Stan James) justified as compared to the offer of 6 by Bet365 to win the game. May not be such a bad idea to put one’s money on Pakistan!
