The financially weak PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) had offered to play a home series against India and has asked the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) to think about the proposal. PCB Chairman Ejaz Butt is willing to schedule the earlier canceled home series, even if it means playing across the border. >
Earlier this year, India pulled out of a home series in Pakistan owing to the Mumbai Terror Attacks last year, but now the board is in a cash crisis and is forced to play their ‘home’ series in a land across the forbidden lines. We are playing our ‘home’ Test series in New Zealand right now, we can plan a ‘home’ Test series in India as well, provided the Indians show interest,” said Butt.
The PCB is currently facing a USD 47 million revenue loss with the board unable to turn the dipping curve. “We are definitely keen on playing a bilateral series with India as soon as possible and it is something we have been discussing at all levels with our government, with their board officials and with the ICC,” Butt also added. He also commented that the clearance approved by the Indian government to allow Pakistani players to participate at the IPL III is also an auspicious sign of resuming the bilateral cricket ties.
Butt also confirmed that they were earning little from playing at neutral venues but the matches are important to keep the sport alive in the country.
