Sachin and Amitabh - admirers of each other

Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar is a legendary name and a well known personality in the field of cricket. This is one such cricketer who brings joy to the millions of his countrymen. Sachin is on verge of completing 20 years in the international cricket. Even if he has grabbed each and every batting record in his twenty year career, this Indian batting icon says he is still nervous when he walks down the pitch to bat.

For Sachin, the nervousness enables him to give his best shot. Sachin spoke at the felicitation function for batting legends Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Vishwanath on 12 November, 2009, “You can get nervous only when you care about something and I care about cricket”. Tendulkar even spoke about how his idol, Sunil Gavaskar when he had come to greet him after Sachin broke his record of 34 centuries and for him, it was a really cherishing and touching moment to see Gavaskar waiting for him. This highest run getter in both Test and One day formats, felt even great that the person whom he admired a lot has come personally to meet him and to praise him.

Further, Sachin recalled that as a ball boy at the Wankhede stadium, he was called by Gavaskar to the dressing room. There Gavaskar introduced him to the entire team. That day, Sachin was stunned and hardly spoke for the entire day.

Amitabh Bachan, the legendary actor of Bollywood

For a legendary actor like Amitabh Bachan, Sachin Tendulkar is a genius. On an interview, Amitabh recalls, “I have delayed my shoots several times, only to watch Sachin bat”. Both Amitabh and Sachin are considered to be the two biggest icons of India and what’s more, both are avid fans and admirers of each other. On sachin’s completing his twentieth year in international cricket, Amitabh input is all praise for this little great man of Indian Cricket Team. Amitabh even added, “It is a marvel that such a sportsman has achieved in his life”. For this actor, Sachin has utmost confidence on his stance and he even admires the manner in which Sachin dismisses any delivery.

The event was to celebrate sixty years of life of two of the greatest cricketers of India, Sunil Gavaskar and Gundappa Vishwanath. Sachin Tendulkar was the chief guest of this function and Amitabh Bachan did the honors of presenting the two cricketers with presenting golden bats. And yes, it was a sight with standing ovation from the audience as these great people stood together at the Rangasharda auditorium in Mumbai in India.
