A stunning performance by Anisa Mohammed helped the West Indies take the lead in the T20 series against South Australia. The West Indies were put to field first in the 2nd T20 match against South Africa. The team was successful in restricting the visitors to 114 runs. The West Indies team emerged victorious with spinner Mohammed leading the victory wagon bowling out her career best scores of 5 for 10 runs.

Openers Shandre Fritz and Trisha Chetty started the South African innings slowly. They were unable to perform well in the power play and managed only 31 runs from it. In the 8th over, they were confident enough to edge for boundaries. The team reached 50 runs by the end of 51 balls. Fritz crashed in the 12th and Mohammed had her first victim. In the 15th over, Mohammed dismissed Mignon du Preez and Kirstie Thomson in quick succession. South Africa was left struggling on 84 for 4 wickets. The hosts suffered 2 more blows in the 18th over. The team was wrapped up for good in the 19th over.

The bowling scores for the South African line-up shows 2 dismissals for Smith and Kilowan, while van der Westhuizen took a single for 12 runs. Cordel Jack managed 41 runs from 43 balls in contributing to the total score. The South African captain Sunette Loubser later quoted on the team’s performance, “There were a lot of positives to take out from this game even though the result didn’t go our way. The bowlers stuck to the lines and lengths that we discussed and we had an improved performance in the field as well. Going into the final T20, we need to still play our game and end the series on a high.”
