Navjot Singh Sidhu has now become a household name due to his frequent appearances on the celluloid but during his time he was more of a bad boy and possessed quite an ironic personality to the one we get to see on the show The Great Indian Laughter Challenge.
Going back into the cricketer’s latter years, Sidhu had established himself as a politician after having won a Bharatiya Janata Party ticket from Amritsar and won with majority. However controversy surrounded him when in 2006 he was found guilty and subsequently sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment on the charges of homicide.
Sidhu was reportedly involved in a road incident and had allegedly beaten up a man in the year 1988 on the grounds of a silly argument over a parking lot in Patiala.
Gurnam Singh, the 65 year old victim eventually died due to the injuries while Sidhu was forced to resign as a Member of Parliament following the court decision in 2007.
He further moved the Supreme Court which stayed the conviction as well as the sentence which resulted in his winning the Amritsar Lok Sabha seat in 2007.
