India won their fifth successive ODI series when their game against the West Indies at Gros Islet in St. Lucia was abandoned due to incessant rains. India was leading the series 2-1 and this abandoned game was the last game of the series.

M.S.Dhoni had won his fourth consecutive toss and decided to field first again. With the weather been a definite suspect in this part of the woods, it definitely made sense, and India reaped rich rewards immediately as Chris Gayle was consumed by Ishant Sharma even before he had opened his account. Ramnaresh Sarwan then joined Runako Morton and added 27 for the second wicket in seven overs, before the heavens opened. Unlike the previous game, where there were frequent rain interruptions and equally frequent reductions in the overs, this was a rather heavy shower and the match was abandoned much before the cut-off time.

Dhoni won the man-of-the-series award for his two innings of 40s and a 90 in the three innings, along with his efforts with the wicket-keeping gloves and as a captain of a winning team.
