Ricky Ponting has been cleared of any serious damage to his wrist after he was hit while batting in the nets at Nottingham. Ponting has had issues with his troublesome wrist, and missed some international games due to that. This time around, it was a blow to his wrist due to a Michael Hussey shot that had him out of the net session for the day.

A team spokesman said that Ponting’s hand was iced for the rest of the training session and he did not pick up the bat during the same.
Talking of captains, Graeme Smith, the skipper of South Africa has said that he would want to win a major ICC tournament, and the World T20 could be the starting point. South Africa, it must be remembered, have been the most consistent challengers to Australia’s supremacy in recent times, but have yet to win a single world cup, world t20 cup or the champions trophy ever since their return to international cricket in 1991.
South Africa also had a great summer, beating Australia in their own den in the test and the ODI series and then beating them again in South Africa in the fifty-over format.

While speaking to PA, Smith said, “We have had a wonderful past 12 months which has included winning away Test series in both England and Australia and winning home-and-away ODI series against Australia to gain top spot in the ICC rankings”
South Africa had been placed with New Zealand and Scotland and will play the Scots in their first game on the 7th of June.
South Africa definitely go into the tournament as one of the more prepared sides, as most of its players had participated in the second edition of the Indian Premier League played at home.
