Jorge Arce, dubbed the Flyweight king with a record of 44-3-1 and 34 KOs hails from Los Mochis, Mexico and is a former junior flyweight champion who was considered the toughest fighters in the lowerweight classes. Arce was born on July 27, 1979. He turned pro at 16 winning his first four fights before his first defeat to Omar Romero. His second fight was against Gabriel Munoz, one that ended in a draw. He won his first world title on December 4, 1998, defeating Juan Domingo Cordoba for the WBO Light Flyweight Title.

After a four-month hiatus Arce returned to the ring to win a WBO regional belt before winning another title shot, the interim World Boxing Council WBC version of the light flyweight title by defeating Juanito Rubillar. He went on to defeat Yo-Sam Choi a few months later. Ever since winning the title Arce has successfully made seven full defenses of the title and two non-title bouts. He later participated in the Mexican edition of Big Brother, before facing off with Joma Gamboa on January 10, 2004, which he won with a second round KO. Chaos ensued during the fight, as the public jostled over his celebrity Big Brother housemates who Arce invited to the match. Arce successfully defended his title against Melchor Cob Castro on April 24, 2004, defeating the opponent with a fifth round KO. A few months later he again defended the title against Rubillar. He also defended his title in December by defeating Juan Centeno. In 2005, he defeated Hussein Hussein in the tenth round to win the right to fight Pongsaklek Wonjongkam for the World Boxing Council WBC flyweight title.
