James Swan is an Australian bantamweight boxer born in July 6, 1974 at Alice Springs and was raised in the Northern territory. He represented Australia at two consecutive Summer Olympics starting 1996. He then started gaining recognition and winning medals at other international events as well.

Swan has a lot of awards in 1995 he was named as the Northern Territory’s Young Sports Achiever of the Year after representing Australia in the commonwealth games level in Victoria in the year 1994. In 1996, he was a gold medal winner in the 57kg division at the Multi Nation Tournament held in the United Kingdom. He won another Multi Nation Tournament in the Arafura Games in 1997. By 1998 he won the bronze medal at the commonwealth games held in Kuala Lumpur. In the same year, he garnered a bronze medal at the world cup held in China.

Swan had to fight for a place in the Sydney team and had to face a strong challenge against Anthony Little when it came to the final round of the Oceania championships which was the Olympic qualifying tournament. It was known to be a very tough and close fight wherein Swan eventually dominated at a score of 9-7. His last fight in record was held in October 12 2007 against Heath Ellis. He now resides in Adelaide, South Australia.

Standing at a height of 5’3”, Swan uses the Orthodox stance. He was trained by Terry Fox and has a total of 3 wins, 10 losses and 4 draws.
