Hideki Todaka is a former Japanese professional boxer who was born in Miyazaki, Japan on March 16, 1973. When he was in his teens, he was always involved into street fights, and then eventually dropped out of high school to start boxing. He started playing professionally when his was 18, but he only made his debut three years after in 1994. Two years after, in June 1996, he won the Japanese light flyweight title, and was successful in defending the title by September. By 1999, he faced Jesus Kiki Rojas in his hometown, Miyazaki. The fight ended in the 4th round when the referee stopped the match due to severe bleeding on Rojas’ cut after an unintentional head butt between the two fighters. Rojas retained the title. Then both parties decided on a rematch. By July 1999 in Nagoya, Todaka won the title after a unanimous victory over Rojas. This success made him the new WBA super flyweight champion.

He successfully defended his title by November 1999 in Tokyo against Akihiko Nago. Todaka made his second defense by April 2000 against Yokthai Sithoar by TKO. The referee stopped the match after the 11th round since Sithoar was not able to get back on his feet after receiving heavy punches from Todaka.

Six months after his second defense, Todaka failed to keep the title from Leo Gomez, and was defeated by a knockout in the 7th round. The match gave him a broken jaw and was advised to rest. It took him a year and a half to have a 100% recovery. By October 2003, he faced Leo Gomez again and won the WBA Bantamweight title after a 12 round fight.

And by 2004, he decided to retire and is now spending time training young boxers at the Todaka gym in Tokyo, Japan.
