Alexander Muñoz also called as “El Explosivo”, is a professional boxer in the super flyweight division who was born on February 8, 1979 in Miranda, Venezuela. During his amateur career, he made an excellent record with 163 wins, 9 loses, and 129 knockouts. And then by 2008, the 30 year old started fighting professionally.

The 5 feet 5 inches boxer defeated Celes Kobayashi of Japan in 2002 at Nihon Budokan, Tokyo, Japan, and that victory made him the WBA Super flyweight champion, winning by a TKO in the 8th round. He defended the title three times against Eiji Kojima from Japan on July 2002 in Osaka, Japan, then to Hidenobu Honda also from Japan on October 2003 in Tokyo, Japan, and again to Eiji Kojima by January 2004 in Osaka Japan. Then, by December 2004, he lost the title to the Mexican, Martin Castillo in Laredo, Texas. Three years after, he regained the title from the Japanese, Nobuo Nashiro on May 2007 in Tokyo, Japan. Eight months after, in January 2007 at the Bunka Gym in Kanagawa, Japan, he successfully defeated his belt against the Japanese, Katsushige Kawashima who was a former WBC super flyweight champion. By May 2008 in Durango, Mexico, Muñoz lost the title to the Mexican professional boxer, Cristian Mijares who was the WBC champion at that time. After that match, Mijares became the WBA super champion.
