Beibis Antonio Mendoza or simply “Beibis Mendoza” is a professional boxer who hails from Colombia. He was born on June 20, 1974 in Arboletes, Colombia. Mendoza currently resides in Rio Cedro, Colombia and is known under the alias “Candela”. He competes in the Light Flyweight division, and boxes using an Orthodox stance. He stands at a height of 5 feet and 4 inches or 163 centimeters, and has a reach of 27 inches or 68 centimeters.

As an amateur, Mendoza was a member of the Colombian Olympic team in 1996. During the said international event, he defeated Dominic Figliomeni of Canada, but lost to Oleg Kiryukin of Ukraine. His defeat took away Mendoza’s dreams of obtaining a gold medal for his country.

After his stint at the 1996 Olympics, Mendoza turned professional and went on to capture the WBA Light Flyweight title which was vacant at the time. He managed to capture the said title by acquiring a disqualification win in 2000 against his supposed opponent, Rosendo Alvarez. During the said fight, Alvarez had suffered some point deductions which went on to be points for disqualification for subsequent low blows. Unfortunately, the referee Mitch Halpern who declared the disqualification of Alvarez against Mendoza took his own life eight days after his defeat.

One of Mendoza’s first opponents as a professional was Pedro Rodriguez in an event that was held in Cartagena, Colombia. During his first fight, Mendoza emerged as the victor through a technical knockout in the second round. It was only in 2001 that Mendoza experienced his first defeat under the hands of Rosendo Alvarez. The said event was held in Madalay Bay Resort and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada, United States.

Over the course of his career, Mendoza has a record of 30 matches won (24 via knockout), and 4 matches loss.
