On the second day of August 2006 was the bout of Juan Landaeta of Venezuela vs. Kameda in Yokohama, Japan for the World Boxing Association light flyweight title. The fight became an issue since Kameda won the fight in a split decision despite getting knocked down in the first round and being ahead in the final two rounds.

Controversial issue arises because of the fact that the Korean judge who scored the fight in Kameda’s favor gave the final round to Kameda, though to the audience perception was that the Japanese boxer did nothing but to match with his opponent and try to avoid being knocked out in the round. If only the Korean had scored the final round in the side of Landaeta, the Venezuelan would have would have won the match.

However, there are mixed reactions from the Japanese public when the fight was over. Some argued about the decision made by the Tokyo broadcasting system, the station that broadcasted the fight. While some proclaimed the 19 year old aggressiveness and impressive technique and others believed that Landaeta was obviously doing the good job and a better fighter compared to his opponent.
The rematch was made last December 20 2006 and finally Kameda defeated Juan Jose Landaeta at Ariake Colosseum in Tokyo, Japan. Landaeta was out boxed by Kameda for most of the match using his quickness and accuracy. However, some commented that the fight is good so far and Landaeta takes the 4th, and 5th while Kameda had a very good sixth round.
