Sergio Mora
Sergio Mora is an American professional boxer in the Middleweight division. He was born on February 28, 1980 in East Los Angeles, California, United States. He stands 6 feet in height, a reach of 74 inches, and fights with an Orthodox stance. He is the champion of the reality show, The Contender, and is known as “The Latin Snake.”
Mora was raised without a father and lived in the apartment below his mother’s apartment. He hopes that boxing will help him and his family, and provide them with a better standard of living. Despite coming from the ghetto, Mora is eloquent and thoughtful, which is totally against the usual stereotype.
As mentioned earlier, Mora is the champion of the reality TV show, The Contender. In his first round in the show, he came face to face with Najai Turpin (the boxer who later committed suicide) and won. During the Quarter Finals, he fought Ishe Smith, beating him soundly and reaching the Semi-Finals. It was Jesse Brinkley who he fought in the Semi-Final round and he defeated Brinkley after seven rounds. The win led him to the finals and up against Peter Manfredo. After seven rounds into their fight, Mora defeated Manfredo via unanimous decision, and he subsequently became The Contender Champion.
After a series of wins, in June 7, 2008, Mora came face to face with Vernon Forrest, and won via a majority decision in a 12-round fight. The decision made Mora the WBC Super Welterweight Champion. Prior to the said fight, Forrest threatened to send Mora “out on a stretcher,” and often referred to him as the “pretender.” However, as fate would have it, Mora won.
Over the course of his professional career, Mora has had a total of 22 fights. In these fights, he has 21 wins (with 5 via knockout), and 1 draw. To top it off, Mora has not yet lost a fight.
