Milan Melindo is a boxer from the Philippines. Born on February 29, 1988, Melindo is known to fans as El Metodco or the Method Man. He is the current WBC Youth Inter-Continental flyweight champion.
Melindo started boxing at a young age under the influence of his father, and continued to box after gaining sports scholarship that helped him finish high school. After he graduated from high school, Melindo concentrated on boxing to help his family.
Known as one of the most skillful boxers of the ALA Boxing stable, Melindo debuted as a professional boxer on September 17,2005 by defeating Meljun Grumo at the Sports and Cultural Complex in Mandaue City, Philippines. Two years later, he won the vacant WBO Asian Pacific minimumweight title after defeating Pongpan Patanakan by a TKO after four rounds. He defended this title against Jack Amisa on December 2, 2007. The Method Man effectively dodged Amisa’s blows and emerged the winner by unanimous decision.
Melindo defeated Carlos Melo to win the WBA Inter-Continental light flyweight title on July 26, 2008 at the Cebu Coliseum. Two years later, on January 14, 2010, he faced Anthony Villareal for the World Boxing Council Youth Inter-Continental flyweight title at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, in a fight dubbed ‘Bakbakan sa Sinulog.’ Melindo, still unbeaten, defeated Villareal with a solid right that sent the opponent to the canvas in the tenth round. The Cagayan de Oro native defended his WBC Youth Intercontinental title against last-minute t replacement Komrit Twinsgym on April 23, 2010 in Dubai. He successfully defended the title in his first fight outside the country, defeating Komrit Twinsgym by a TKO in round 4.
