Born Jorge Luis Solis Rivera on October 23, 1979, Solis is a Mexican boxer who has held various regional titles in the course of his career, including the WBC Latin America title and the Mexican Super Bantamweight title. He turned pro in 1998 at19 and breezed through his first fights. He won his first fight against Bernardo Tule by a technical knockout.

He fought his first match in the US in 2000, facing off against Juan Jose Mendez at the Don Haskins Center in El Paso, Texas. The Mexican fighter won this match with another KO in the 6th round. Another memorable bout was against Humberto Soto in 2004. The bout resulted to a no contest decision after Solis suffered a cut due to an accidental head clash with Soto, which the latter contested.

One of Solis' more memorable matches was against Manny Pacquiao in a match in 2007. The match was held in San Antonio, Texas. Solis, then unbeaten, fell down to the barrage of punches that Pacquiao let loose on him. Solis did not miss a beat after this loss, going on to defeat Santiago Allione in Mexico by a technical KO. He then defeated Monte Meza Clay in the fifth round with another technical KO.

Solis challenged Cristobal Cruz on July t 11, 2009 but lost this bout by unanimous decision. Solis moved up to the Super Featherweight division and defeated Likar Ramos by a 7th round TKO.
