Jose Guillen capped off a tremendous weekend performance at Yankee Stadium in style yesterday as he hit the game-winning home run off Mariano Rivera in the 9th inning. It was his 4th home run of the series. While the Yankees nearly made a comeback in the 9th, Melky Cabrera grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game.

Mike Mussina went 8 innings for the Yanks, giving up only 2 runs on 7 hits. Royals starter Luke Hochevar allowed 2 runs on 4 hits through 6 innings, retiring 14 straight between the 1st and 5th innings. Alex Rodriguez and Miguel Olivo both hit two run home runs in the 7th before Guillen made it 3-2 in the 9th. Joakim Soria recorded his 14th save in 15 opportunities for the Royals, who won only their fourth game in their last 21 contests. Yasuhiko Yabuta earned his first career victory despite recording only one out in the 8th inning.
