It was his 4th home run of the series. While the Yankees nearly made a comeback in the 9th, Melky Cabrera grounded out with the bases loaded to end the game.

Royals starter Luke Hochevar allowed 2 runs on 4 hits through 6 innings, retiring 14 straight between the 1st and 5th innings. Alex Rodriguez and Miguel Olivo both hit two run home runs in the 7th before Guillen made it 3-2 in the 9th. Joakim Soria recorded his 14th save in 15 opportunities for the Royals, who won only their fourth game in their last 21 contests.
