Junior Exempt

Junior Exempt is a project of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) that provides wild cards into events of the ITF Women’s circuit. This opportunity is given to junior players that are part of the top 10 world rankings. Junior Exempt began in 1997 when ITF decided to help out the world’s top-ranking junior girls to transition to the professional level. It was in 2007 when the project was extended to include the top 10 boys.

How to Qualify for Junior Exempt?

To be able to qualify for the Junior Exempt is not an easy feat. It requires perseverance and hard work to achieve top ranking results. The results of qualifying the junior exempt will be determined by the results of the best six singles and six doubles matches over the fifty-two (52) week period. The ITF will be the one to deliver the junior championship for boys and girls at the end of the season. Junior players that end up in the world’s top ten rankings will qualify for the ITF Junior Exempt project. If the players qualify for this project, they are automatically given access to ITF Pro Circuit events.

The ITF Junior Exempt project is one of the projects of ITF that helps qualified junior players the opportunity to play professionally. Becoming a professional player is tough and very competitive. Having the backing of ITF or being part of the Junior Exempt is a great opening or break for them to achieve a big step closer to their dream in playing pro. There will be plenty of opportunities to come across and be mentored with the best coaches in the world of tennis. They are also qualified to play against a professional tennis player as a wild card.

Becoming a Junior Exempt

To become a Junior Exempt, he or she needs to be determined in achieving his or her goals. Giving up should not be an option. There will be times when a player feels like quitting, but by never losing sight of their goal, they can achieve in becoming a Junior Exempt. If they fail, that should not be a hindrance to fulfilling what their goal is. Instead, let it be a learning lesson for them to be better.
