Thanasi Kokkinakis is an Australian professional tennis player. He achieved an ATP Tour career-high ranking of World No.69 in 2015.
He also achieved a doubles ranking high of World No.15 in November 2022 after he won the men’s doubles events at the Australian Open alongside Nick Kyrgios.

Kokkinakis was born Athanasios Kokkinakis on April 10, 1996, in Adelaide, South Australia to Greek immigrant parents. He stands 193 cm tall and his last listed weight is 84 kilograms. Playing right-handed, he has a two-handed backhand.
Growing up, he was a fan of Marat Safin. He attended Scotch College and he holds Australian and Greek citizenship.
Career
As a junior player, he played at Grand Slam events including the Australian Open and Wimbledon. He also made it to the finals of the US Open boy’s event. His highest Junior ranking was No.10.
He started playing professionally between 2011 and 2013. He decided to forego his eligibility to continue playing as a junior in 2014 and decided to focus on the men’s events.
In 2013, he was in the qualifying rounds of the Aussie Open but lost to Steve Johnson. He missed the rest of that year because of a stress fracture to his back.
In 2014, he qualified to play at Brisbane International. In the same year, he was given a wildcard to play at Melbourne Park. He first broke through to the Top 100 in 2015. In June of that year, he made it to No.69.
One of his career highlights came in 2018 when he defeated Roger Federer in the Miami Open’s second round. He laid low in 2019 and 2020 due to injuries and did not return to the sport in full force until 2021.
In 2022, he paired with countryman Nick Kyrgios and the two made waves at the Australian Open when they won the men’s doubles event. Later that year, he was also in the third round of the French Open and US Open men’s doubles.
In 2023, he was in the third round of the French Open men’s singles category.
